Christopher Ramirez took an interest in film at the young age of four. His passion continued throughout college where he attended film school at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. While attending SMU he worked for several public relation companies, which handled Warner Brothers, Miramax and Disney, giving him a unique insight and understanding of the industry from an advertising and marketing perspective.
After Graduation, Ramirez made his way through the entertainment business working in everything from theater management and projection to feature film producing and editing.
Along with his Wife, Erin MacMillan-Ramirez, Ramirez presented one of their self-produced short films to the Cannes Film Short Film Corner in 2008. Since then, MacMillan-Ramirez have produced numerous short films and are in preproduction on two feature films.
In between films, Ramirez has taken up an old love, that of projection and event production. Having grown up in an old movie house, Ramirez is well acquainted with every aspect of film projection and presentation. He has used that knowledge as a Event Producer/Technical Director/Operations Manager for festivals such as AFI Dallas Film Festival, Lone Star Film Festival, ReelAbilities Film Festival, Dallas International Film Festival and The Houston Cinema Arts Festival. In addition to his festival work, Ramirez also worked with Alamo Drafthouse to produce their Rolling Roadshow Presentations in the Houston, Lubbock and El Paso areas.
Isaiah Pena graduated from the University of Houston School of Communications in 2015 with a degree in Media Productions. Since high school, his goal has been to use the medium of digital media to communicate with people, through dialogue and visual stimulation. Isaiah became fully involved in the Digital Media & Media Production world in college, where he became an active member in the campus’ Student-run television network, eventually serving as the organization’s Production Manager and then as Vice President. He took great pride in helping the organization restructure and transition into the newly formed “Center for Student Media” which included the student-run Newspaper and Internet-radio station. After the restructuring, Isaiah moved over to the university’s Student Programming organization where he worked to restructure its cinema-event programming.
Also while in college, Isaiah worked with various Media Faculty to bring about “@UH,” a digital broadcast news program, produced and operated by students. The show started in 2013 and has since then, become a paid position in the Center’s board of student leaders. Since graduating from college Isaiah has spent his extra time writing and directing short films and participating in film-centric events such as the Houston 48hr Film Festival, which Isaiah’s group won in 2014. He continues to work on what he loves at Flashback Films and looks forward to new and challenging opportunities.
